Personal Fitness Trainer (PFT) - Recertification Requirements


 

  • Maintain current First Aid and CPR annually;
  • Maintain current IFC membership annually;
  • Obtain 21 Continuing Education Credits (CEC's) every 2 years;
  • Proof of 100 hours of on-floor experience as a PFT over a 2 year period. Proof is in the form of completed IFC PFT Log Sheets documenting these hours. Include client contact information and number of hours with the client.
  • On-floor practical evaluation every 4 years by a certified PFT Evaluator.

More Than One Certification

If an individual has more than one certification s/he must obtain the highest number of Continuing Education Credits (CEC's) required by any certification (i.e. If an individual has a GFL certification and an OAFL certification, s/he must obtain 12 CEC's over a 2 year period. If an individual has an RTL certification and a Course Conductor certification, s/he must obtain 30 CEC's over a 2 year period.) In addition, every individual that has more than one certification must receive an evaluation in each specialty to keep it current.

The certifications of the IFC are nationally recognized and transferable across Canada.
