Recertification Process

The Island Fitness Council (IFC) currently requires all leaders to re-certify every two years. This is to ensure that leaders remain up-to-date on current trends in the fitness field.

Re-certification requirements are in place for the following programs:

  • Group Fitness Leadership (GFL)
  • Resistance Training Leadership (RTL)
  • Aquafitness Leadership (AFL)
  • Older Adult Fitness Leadership (OAFL)
  • Personal Fitness Trainer (PFT)

For information on the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology's Certified Personal Trainer® (CSEP CPT®) and Certified Exercise Physiologist® (CSEP CEP®) programs, please visit the Fitness New Brunswick (FNB) web site at http://www.fitnessnb.ca/atlanticcsep.htm. Fitness NB administers the CSEP CPT and CSEP CEP certifications in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland/Labrador.

The certifications of the IFC are nationally recognized and transferable across Canada.
