The National Fitness Leadership Alliance (NFLA) is a Canadian partnership of not-for-profit organizations dedicated to:
1) developing, promoting and implementing national standards for the training and registration of fitness leaders in Canada. At this time it represents over 10,000 fitness professionals living and working in eight provinces and two territories across Canada. 2) identifying and addressing common issues of concern and challenges to fitness leadership in Canada; 3) encouraging the coordination of, and collaboration on resource development and distribution for fitness professionals across Canada; and 4) acting as an advocate for fitness leadership at the national level. MembersThe NFLA is comprised of the following members, each representing one or more provinces/territories:
VisionA nation of healthy and fit Canadians supported by qualified exercise professionals who meet the NFLA exercise leadership standards. Canada’s National Fitness Leadership Alliance becomes first North American member of international network of fitness registers
WINNIPEG, Manitoba – Canada’s National Fitness Leadership Alliance (NFLA) has been accepted as a full member with The International Confederation of Registers for Exercise Professionals (ICREPs) – an international membership based organization representing independent, competency based registration systems for exercise/fitness professionals. The NFLA is an alliance involving eight Canadian provinces and two territories, representing over 10,000 exercise professionals throughout Canada.
“We are very pleased to announce our membership in ICREPs” stated Stephanie Jeffrey, NFLA chair. “The NFLA’s main focus is on the development and stewardship of national standards for fitness leader registration across Canada, and acting as an advocate for fitness leadership at the National level. Our involvement with ICREPs will further these goals, providing international recognition for our Canadian fitness professionals, and allowing for the sharing of best practices internationally.” … The International Confederation of Registers for Exercise Professionals (ICREPs) is an international membership based organisation. All members operate independent, competency based registration systems for exercise/fitness professionals. ICREPs members operate in 4 continents, over seven countries, and collectively register over 60,000 individual exercise professionals.
