Stage One: Fitness Theory Course

  • Full attendance at the Fitness Theory (FT) Course.
  • Successful completion of the FT Exam (80% or higher). Click here to learn more about exam challenges.

Stage Two: Resistance Training Leadership Course

  • Full attendance at the Resistance Training Leadership (RTL) Course.
  • Successful completion of the Resistance Training Leadership Written and Practical Exams (80% or higher.) Please note: You must be a member in good standing with Fitness NB and a "Certified" Resistance Training Leader prior to registering for the Personal Fitness Trainer Course.

 Stage Three: Personal Fitness Trainer Course

  • Full attendance at the Personal Fitness Trainer (PFT) Course.
  • Successful completion of the Personal Fitness Trainer Exam (80% or higher.)

Stage Four: Evaluation

  • Current Adult 1 person CPR (Minimum Level A) and First Aid.
  • Completion of assigned Case Study.
  • Practical Evaluation.

Stage Five: Certification

  • Successful completion of stages 1-4.
  • Payment of annual Fitness NB Professional Association Fee.
  • Certification valid for 2 years.

Certification requirements must be completed within 6 months from the date of the Personal Fitness Trainer Exam.
